Balancing loads across three phases

Three phases, one home

With a 3-phase supply the home's circuits are split across phases L1, L2 and L3. Each phase has its own current limit — a 3×25 A supply does not mean one 75 A pool.

Why balance matters

If most load lands on one phase, that phase trips while the other two idle. A badly skewed load also shifts the neutral point, which stresses appliances.

How circuits are assigned

  • Heavy single-phase loads (boiler, EV charger, oven) are spread across different phases.
  • Rooms are distributed so each phase carries a similar estimated load.
  • Three-phase devices (some stoves and chargers) connect to all phases at once.

The generator balances phases automatically, and the rule engine warns when the heaviest phase carries far more than the lightest.
